Melanie Abrams Fierstein currently lives in Los Angeles, California. She is a first-generation-American screenwriter specializing in brow-raising, character-driven dramas, true stories, and IP adaptations. Previously, Melanie was an accomplished speechwriter, organizer, and political consultant for candidates including Secretary Hillary Clinton, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and many other Congressional and local candidates across the United States. Melanie combines her experience in politics with her unique perspective as a disabled woman to write stories with diverse leads that trigger much-needed larger conversations.
Melanie is on the Austin Film Festival Top 25 Writers To Watch 2024 List, and received the 2024 Inevitable Foundation Loreen Arbus Foundation Grant. Her scripts have been featured on Coverfly’s Red List & Top 1%, and have earned over a dozen accolades including NBCU TV Writer's Program Finalist, Warner Brothers Writers Workshop Finalist, Austin Film Festival Semifinalist, Golden Script Competition Finalist, Diverse Voices Official Selection, and many more.
