Old Town Alexandria, Virginia is a quaint, historic village just outside Washington, D.C. which boasts the home of George Washington, Colonial-themed restaurants, and the occasional murder. Luckily, local cooking show host Sophie Winston proves to be just as good at catching killers as she is at baking pies.
In this groundbreaking new television concept, we marry the world of a wildly popular reality cooking series with that of a cozy murder mystery. We join mid-40s Sophie on the set of her cooking series to watch her create a real recipe that ties into the episode’s behind-the-scenes murder mystery; for example, in The Diva Frosts The Cupcake, our story begins with a delectable recipe segment for
cupcakes, which Sophie then sells at a fundraiser where a local baker is murdered. Sophie and her friends then solve the mystery, all the while creating and eating scrumptious food, the recipes for which can be accessed before the episode airs so that viewers can enjoy Sophie’s recipes along with the show.
Join our loveable amateur sleuth and her gang of loyal friends as they hunt down murderers in the picturesque setting of Old Town, with terrifying twists and tasty treats at every turn. Just one episode, and you’ll be coming back for seconds.

The Domestic Diva has extensive potential due to the massive fan base around “cozy mysteries”. Possible ideas include bringing scripted content to a network like QVC (“QVC Mysteries”) with QVC product placement throughout the show. QVC’s built-in audience will love the opportunity to purchase the fabulous dishware, ingredients, and domestic items they see in the episode after the show, as well as copies of the books.
Additionally, a partnership with Blue Apron or similar grocery delivery service can create a specially curated box available for each episode that viewers can order in advance and have all the ingredients and recipes to make along with that week’s episode, with a portion of those proceeds benefiting a food-based charity. A line of cookbooks and kitchenware can be “created by” Sophie Winston, similar to Parks and Recreation’s lead Leslie Knope’s line of autobiographies on her hometown. This series would be best suited to viewers of BBC/PBS murder mysteries, Hallmark Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Cooking Channel etc. This is an interactive show with many ways for the audience to engage via the popular hobby of cooking.
