A farm-raised couple's future is shattered when a sexy, scheming city
doctor moves to their sleepy town, bringing with her temptation,
turmoil and deception.
It is 1998 in Black, Alabama – population 211. Janet Gaynor and George O’Brien were once in love, but death and debt have driven a booze-soaked wedge between them. When Janet gets pregnant with the child she hopes will salvage their marriage, George becomes even crueler – and drunker. He takes Janet to a doctor in Montgomery to “take care of it”, despite Janet’s protests. But George is far less interested in his impending fatherhood than he is in Margaret Livingston, their buxom and chic OBGYN, recently transferred from Manhattan. Supposedly intent on integrating herself into the country lifestyle, Margaret begins to spend a lot of time with George – but little does he know that she is a high-level con artist, there to swindle him out of his farmland that, unbeknownst to him, sits upon millions of dollars worth of oil. A torrid affair, attempted murder, a missing will and ten million dollars all end in an unexpected death that forever alters George’s and Janet’s futures – and pasts.
